Thomas Kastrup
Thomas is a lifelong Nebraskan. Born in Hartington, NE, Thomas is a proud graduate of the University of Nebraska. He's served as a leader of large teams at the Omaha World-Herald and the Better Business Bureau. He's eager to bring his extensive budgetary and financial experience to the Legislature to fight for the middle-class.
For far too long, everyday Nebraskans have been left behind. It feels like no matter how hard we work, it's impossible to get ahead. Property taxes are continually rising, and it's time for real relief. As the next Senator for District 12, Thomas will fight to cut costs on healthcare, everyday goods, and lower the cost of living across the state.
Serving the State of Nebraska is both an honor and a sacred duty, and Nebraskans deserve to have a government free of corruption and political favors. When corruption goes unchecked, working people pay the price. Thomas will fight back against corruption and strengthen the middle class so that everyone has the opportunity to get ahead.
Our voters have spoken on important issues at the ballot box, and the Legislature has chosen to ignore our voices. Thomas will fight to protect voter-approved initiatives, not overturn their resounding support.
Thomas has seen first-hand the impact that a lack of affordable and accessible childcare can have on both workers and businesses. Thomas knows that we all thrive when all Nebraskans have access to childcare that doesn't break the bank. He'll fight to fund programs and support subsidies that benefit everyday Nebraskans.
Thomas knows that it's the State's job to make sure that our freedoms are always protected. Our civil and human rights are not up for debate - and Thomas will fight to make sure that our Legislature makes our Nebraskans more free, not less.
Hard-working Nebraskans are paying more than ever for healthcare and insurance. Medical bills shouldn’t break the bank. Thomas will fight in the Legislature to reduce prescription drug prices, close insurance loopholes, and finally put people over profits - making sure Nebraskans get the care they need.
